About Us

MeHello! My name is Abby Rummel and I am currently a junior at The Pennsylvania State University. I am from a small town outside of Pittsburgh called Sarver. At Penn State I am studying Secondary Education with a concentration in English and Communications and minoring in English.  I chose my specific major because I have a passion for English and want to be able to go deep into the class content and have meaningful class discussions.

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, so for me to be so close to graduating is a surreal feeling. I am passionate about everything I do and I intend to carry that passion into my classroom to inspire my students.

Outside of school work, I am involved in a THON organization called Eclipse to help raise money for pediatric cancer. I am also a part of the Penn State Track and Field club where I gained a national championship title in high jump. Some of my other hobbies include hiking, traveling, and playing the piano.

How to Incorporate Project-Based Learning into a Secondary English Classroom

Hi! My name is Molly Mowatt and I am a junior at Penn State University. I am studying secondary education with a minor in biology to become a high school biology teacher. I am originally from Hawley, PA, a small town on Lake Wallenpaupack in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. IMG_5887

I am an avid skier, golfer, and I love the outdoors. Traveling is by far my most treasured hobby that I am fortunate enough to be able to do. I truly believe that experiences are the most valuable thing we can take away from our lives, because the exposure builds character, opens us up to new cultures, and the memories made last forever.

One of my favorite things to do is take photos of my friends and family. This is a way for me to capture moments and reflect on them in the weeks, months, and years to come. I print my favorite shots each month and use them to update my living space decor, or put together creative scrapbooks.

PBL in Action

FullSizeRenderHello! My name is Allison Caruso and I am a junior studying Elementary and Early Childhood Education with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies at the Pennsylvania State University. I am from a small town called Center Valley, Pennsylvania, located just south of Allentown and Bethlehem, PA.

I have a passion for working with others and I spend much of my time here at Penn State working at my part time job in Campus Dining, where I get to interact with hundreds of people each day! I think that talking with such a wide variety of individual on such a frequent basis will be an imperative part of my career, so I am thrilled to practice my interpersonal skills while here at Penn State.

Some of my hobbies include drawing, playing the violin, and planning fun activities with my friends! Part of my inspiration for this research project stemmed from my love of the arts and and finding new, fulfilling ways to spend my time. I hope to share these ideas and values with my students one day!
